Apple has unveiled a brand new iMac with its M1 chip inside and a 24-inch Retina display with 4.5K resolution. The latest iMac has colours – and how!
Available in seven different trim colours, plus new colour-matched keyboards and mice that support Touch ID for the first time on the Mac desktop.
The device is thinner than before, and the bezel is smaller, although the display still has a neutral white bezel on each model, so the body color is different. The power connector is now magnetic, and there is a new power supply that you can connect Ethernet to.
There are two different price levels: $ 1299 in four colors and $ 1499 in all seven colors. Like the 13-inch MacBook Pro, all models are equipped with an 8-core M1 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage but have either 7- or 8-core graphics on which tier you choose.
You also get a Touch ID keyboard and additional USB-C ports only on the more expensive model, while the younger model only has the standard version of the Magic Keyboard (you can presumably upgrade). Apple says its graphics provide roughly 2x the performance improvement over the previous version.
